CNS Research Associate
The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) invites applications for a full-time, research associate dealing with nuclear nonproliferation issues. This position will entail research, analysis, writing, and lecturing on nuclear nonproliferation and related security issues involving both state and non-state actors. In addition to an appointment at the Monterey Institute's James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, there may be opportunities to teach at the Monterey Institute of International Studies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct research projects in the area of nuclear proliferation and other topics relevant to nonproliferation issues.
  • Assist with ongoing Center-wide projects on nonproliferation.
  • Give lectures on nonproliferation topics.
  • Prepare grant proposals and reports as needed.
  • Publish articles and op-eds on nonproliferation issues.
  • Present research results at conferences and workshops.

Appointment date: position is open until filled.

CNS Postdoctoral/Sabbatical Fellowship
The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) invites applications for its 2009 postdoctoral/sabbatical fellows program. During his/her year in residence, the fellow will be expected to: (1) publish a significant work in the field of nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons proliferation/terrorism or related field; (2) contribute to ongoing research and programmatic activities at CNS; and (3) lecture in his/her area of specialty.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct research projects in the area of nuclear proliferation and other topics relevant to nonproliferation issues and publish/prepare manuscript for publication.
  • Publish articles and op-eds on nonproliferation issues.
  • Give lectures on nonproliferation topics to visiting fellows, interns, and others.
  • Assist with ongoing Center-wide projects on nonproliferation.
  • Present research results at conferences and workshops.
