CNS Alumni: News

A key component of the mission of the Center for Nonproliferation Studies is to combat the spread of weapons by training the next generation of nonproliferation specialists. The Center has existed for 14 years, and its alumni have made much progress in carrying out the Center's mission.

Praveen Abhayaratne (May 2003) was a Research Associate for the CNS WMD Terrorism Research Project. He is currently working at CARE International in Sri Lanka as a research and advocacy coordinator. 

Jeffrey Allan (May 2002) has begun working with the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC).

Jonathan Benjamin-Alvarado (MA IPS 1993), has a tenure-track position teaching Latin American politics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Dr. Benjamin-Alvarado has also authored a book, titled Power to the People: Nuclear Energy Development in Communist Cuba.

Hilary Anderson (MA IPS 1999) has accepted a position with the US government.

Sandi Arnold (MA IPS 1999) is working for the Iraq Action Team at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.

Alison (Barr) Ramirez was awarded a US Department of State Foreign Affairs Fellowship by The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, which led to a position as a Foreign Service Officer with the US Department of State. She is currently working at CNS as the Country Profile Manager for the Nuclear Threat Initiative website.

Anjali Bhattacharjee (MA IPS 2002) is a Watch Operations Manager at the iJET Travel Risk Management in Maryland.

Michael Bedke (MA IPS 2001) is a foreign Affairs Specialist/Treaty Implementation at the US Department of Energy.

Paulette Blanscet is an International Trade Specialist with the US Department of Commerce.

Beth Anne (Bowers) Gillier (MA IPS 2001) is working as an Exercise Support Specialist, Homeland Security, at EG & G Technical Services, Inc.

Adam Brake is a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Jim Kolbe (R-AZ).

Lara Cantuti (MA IPS 1994) works for the Science Application International Corporation's Weapons Proliferation Analysis Division in Washington, DC, as a Project Manager for the Department of Energy's Second Line of Defense Program.

Janina M. de Guzman has been appointed to the position of Assistant Country Program Officer at the US Embassy's Public Affairs Section in Seoul, Korea.

Jody Daniel (MA IPS 2003) is a Foreign Affairs Officer at the Bureau of Verification and Compliance of the US Department of State.

Elizabeth “Liz” Dickinson (Keith) (MA IPS 1999) and husband David welcomed Hunter David Dickinson into their lives on July 14. Liz works for the US government analyzing military issues in the former Soviet Union.

Greg Dwyer (MA IPS 2001) is a Project Manager at the Office of Nuclear Material Protection, National Nuclear Security Administration at the US Department of Energy.

Ann Helen Dybwad (1998) is an instructor at the Norwegian Defense NBS School. Previously she worked as a Deputy Administration Officer for KFOR's multinational military police force in Kosovo.

Caroline Earle (May 1996) is a Research Associate with The Henry L. Stimson Center, working with the Committee on Nuclear Policy as well as the Cooperative Security Project. She also serves on the Stimson web development committee.

Christina Ellington was a Spring 1999 Scoville Peace Fellow.

Aziz Gaziev (MA IPS 1999) is a Field Researcher in Tajikistan, Krygyzstan, and Uzbekistan on Central Asia Security and Political Issues for the International Crisis Group.

Erin Christian Golsen (MA IPS 1997) is an International Programs Analyst at Techplan Corporation in Arlington, Virginia.

Erin Hammel Skootsky is Deputy Director of European Programs at The Center for Democracy in Washington, DC.

Brad Hammit (MA IPS 2001) is working at the Office of Nuclear Material Protection of the US Department of Energy.
